Shaiza got changed into her third and last outfit for the reception – an incredible green beaded ensemble. It was incredibly heavy and I was worried she would fall over but this woman know how to wear this traditional costume. The reception was at the Orion Centre in Campsie for more than 300 people. Food, speeches and a ‘leaving’ tradition. The ‘leaving’ tradition is where close friends and family say goodbye to Shaiza as she is effectively leaving the family for good. It is a very emotional time and I felt very privileged to be there.

We were blessed with a gorgeous clear day on May 9 and after the ceremony Shaiza put on an incredibly breathtaking beaded red dress. I love red and was so excited that two of her outfits were red! We had a lot of fun at Mt Annan Botanic Garden but only had time for the Water Garden and the Sun Dial. Javed is a real character and was always wanting people to laugh and was very cheeky with his bride. I loved seeing the reactions and also the poses they wanted to do for their portraits

Last Friday I had the privilege of photographing Shaiza’s Henna Ceremony where family and friends gathered to witness Shaiza’s relatives applying Henna to her fingertips and nails the day before the wedding. I must admit I am quite naive when it comes to these Indian Wedding traditions and I will have to share more information when I find out from Shaiza and Javed. In the meantime please enjoy the photos of this lovely event. The Ceremony was held at Shaiza’s parent’s beautiful home in Campbelltown.
