All those who know me, know my love for the colour red. And it was the red shoes that Felicity was wearing as a guest to Michelle and Andre’s wedding almost 2 years ago that caught my attention. I had to photograph them almost immediately! They were so cute! So when I turned up at Balmoral Beach last Sunday for a portrait session with the newly engaged Michelle and Lincoln and their two girls, they knew there would be a big smile on my face with all the red clothing that was present!

Lincoln and I have been chatting on Facebook since that wedding and it was so exciting to see how their relationship progressed to the next level – especially hearing about the designing of the ring! I love getting to know their clients and really understand the story that leads to their wedding day.

We spent a beautiful winter’s afternoon at Balmoral beach. I honestly felt a part of the family as I was welcomed with big hugs from Gelly and Fi. I believe that being a part of the session is just as important as capturing what is happening. Everyone has to feel comfortable.

I am looking forward to your two-day wedding in October and learning more about the Vietnamese culture!

Alison was very relaxed the morning of the wedding just enjoying the whole experience of being a bride and this continued throughout the day despite the rainy ceremony. I am very lucky to have clients who are happy to accept the day as it comes. They will not let the weather ruin their day and at the beginning of the reception Alison said to me: “Gemma, thanks for everything, we have had the best day so you just go off and do what you do best, capture those candid moments.”

Ceremony: Camellia Gardens, Caringbah.

Reception: Summersalt Restaurant, Cronulla.

Emma and Tim booked me for their wedding almost 18 months ago and so we have been chatting about ideas and what is happening for their wedding for a long time. Unfortunately there is one major thing that you can’t control on the day and that is the weather. It rained almost the entire day – we were just lucky that it w…asn’t really heavy when we went out to La Perouse. The bridal party looked incredible and they really were troopers being wet and cold in the rain! Emma and Tim have been together for 7 years and their strong connection and love for each other we really evident the whole day and especially during the speeches and the ceremony – there were tears – from everyone and especially me!

Ceremony – St Michael’s, Daceyville

Reception – Bonnie Doon Golf Club

Sandrine is such a relaxed bride that before her ceremony she stood at Bradley’s Head watching all the boats pass for the arrival of Jessica Watson. After 20 minutes Channel 9′ Ben Fordham wanted an interview with Sandie and all the guests hadn’t arrived yet because the car park had been barricaded off and it was a 1km walk from the Taronga Zoo carpark! I just felt sorry for Ly waiting and waiting and waiting at the altar ;) The reception was at Athol Hall overlooking Sydney Harbour. Please enjoy the fun and the romance of Sandrine and Ly – such a gorgeous couple!
